The Flying Miata door bushings (second generation) offer a simple yet effective upgrade for enhancing your Miata's structural rigidity and reducing interior noise. These bushings replace the factory rubber components with a high-performance, injection-molded part made from fiberglass-reinforced Zytel nylon resin from DuPont. This advanced material boasts impressive mechanical properties: it is 3 times stronger in tensile stress, exhibits 6.5 times less stretch under load, is 1.5 times more resistant to bending, and shows 39 times better impact resistance compared to standard materials. The design of these bushings is also optimized for performance. The taller profile increases the overlap with the door cup by 36%, which directly contributes to less deflection and a noticeably stiffer car feel. This can translate to fewer squeaks and rattles, particularly in older or high-mileage vehicles. The improved material and design ensure durability, with good chemical resistance and longevity even under demanding conditions. Installation is straightforward, typically involving the removal of two bolts holding the factory rubber bushing and replacing it with the new, stiffer part. Minor door alignment adjustments may be necessary depending on the vehicle's history. The product is sold in pairs, providing enough bushings for one car. These bushings are compatible with all Miatas, including specific fitments for 1990-1997, 1999-2005, 2004-2005 MSM, 2006-2015, 2007-2015 PRHT, 2016-2025, 2017-2020 Fiat, and 2017-2025 RF models. However, some ND3 owners have reported potential squeaking issues, which Flyin' Miata is investigating.
