The ZZPerformance ZZP 3800 Downpipe is a direct replacement for the restrictive factory exhaust component, designed to optimize exhaust flow for increased performance. It eliminates the choke points found in the stock system, including the double-walled tubing, the catalytic converter, and the U-bend section notorious for crushing and disrupting airflow. The flanges are also stainless steel, a feature not commonly offered by competitors, and all welds are held to strict quality control standards for a professional finish and leak-free operation. Featuring laser-cut flanges and 16-gauge metal, the ZZP 3800 Downpipe is built for durability. It incorporates interlock flex, which is considered the best available option for boosted applications. Unlike single-wall flex pipes that can cause whistling or ticking noises and fail easily on supercharged cars, interlock flex withstands higher temperatures and provides a smooth surface for exhaust gases. Gains of over 15HP have been reported with this downpipe, along with a substantial reduction in engine knock. Users may experience the ability to drop a pulley size and/or eliminate 5-7 degrees of knock. Installation is typically straightforward and can be completed in under an hour. The downpipe includes a high-flow catalytic converter, which is EPA certified. However, it is important to note that these converters do not meet CARB compliance standards for states requiring it. Compatibility is specific to the 3800 V6 engine; it does not fit LS4 V8 engines. The downpipe fits the following vehicles: 1997-08 Pontiac Grand Prix (Series II engine, both Supercharged and Non-Supercharged), 2000-05 Monte Carlo (3800 3.8L Engine Only), 2000-05 Impala (3800 3.8L Engine Only), 1997-04 Regal (3800 3.8L Engine Only), and 1998-99 Intrigue (3800 3.8L Engine Only). For 2004+ Grand Prix (Series III cars), a style 'B' O2 extension harness is required. For 2008 Grand Prix models, a style 'C' O2 extension harness is needed. Factory torque specs should be used during installation.
